What are hormones?
Hormones are chemical messengers that travel through the bloodstream to cells, tissues and organs. Hormones work slowly, over time, and affect many different bodily processes, including:
-
Growth and development
-
Metabolism – how your body gets energy from the foods you eat
-
Sexual function
-
Reproduction
-
Mood
What does bio-identical mean?
Bio-identical hormones have the identical chemical structure as human hormones, but are made from a yam or soy plant. They are compounded for each person based on their unique biology. Natural or bio-identical hormones produce the same physiologic response in the body as your own.
What are some symptoms of hormone imbalance?
There are several types of hormones within our bodies; including estradiol, estriol, progesterone, estrone, testosterone, thyroid, cortisol, and DHEA hormones. As no two people are the same, neither are our responses to hormone imbalance. Some may experience a few symptoms, while others experience several. The intensity of symptoms can also vary from mild to severe.

The fee for an initial consultation is $120 for a 60 minute appointment. Follow-up consultations are $60 for 30 minutes.
We utilize at-home saliva, urine, and blood-spot testing through ZRT Laboratory. Patients pay ZRT Laboratory directly for the tests when they send off their samples to the lab. Depending on which labs the pharmacist determines are needed, the price can range from $88 to $440.
Metcalf Compounding Pharmacy utilizes Practice Better to manage consultation appointments and medical records. To get started, click on the link below. An initial consultation questionnaire will need to be completed first, then the pharmacist will determine which labs are needed. Once lab results are received, you will be able to schedule your initial consultation appointment.
For a new consultation, please choose a 60 minute initial consultation. This appointment can be in person, over the phone, or by video chat through the Practice Better platform.
